Chapter 5: The hidden Agenda

My messages were not delivering to D.S and I decided to leave B.N with one of the police men and go and tell D.S. the story we both agreed on. I started running a bit and simultaneously messaging D.S, hoping my messages would deliver. However still they weren’t and I started getting a bit nervous. I couldn’t find his room and was getting nervous the moment I thought about the police interviewing D.S.

After some while I still couldn’t find it as it all looked the same. The hospital was quite huge. Looking left…Looking right… which way? Sir… Do you know which room this is?...Really? I need to go back?
Well at that moment I trusted this man and followed his directions. Walking in the hallway, I saw that my messages delivered to D.S. A moment of relief but still unsure what he said to the police. After some seconds I suddenly bumped into the police officer.. Shiit…He had an angry look on his face.. which all the police men have in Doha. He immediately asked where my friend was because he couldn’t find him. Does this mean, he hasn’t talk to him, I started thinking..

A moment of relief, because there is still a chance and some time for D.S. to read my messages. I responded to the Police officer that I’m also looking for him and showed him the directions, hoping the other man was right. After some walking, we found D.S. As we walked in, he was looking at his phone, which means he saw my messages. Luckily..

The interview went smoothly and we all shared our story to the police as they were finalizing the report. The police visiting the hospital was necessary because they need to know if someone died because of the accident or not. To be honest, I’m so happy, more than happy that no one died in that crash. After the interview, the police left the hospital and informed us that they will finalize the report and that we can collect it at the station. D.S was still waiting for his scan to be made but the wait was getting longer and longer. I constantly asked the doctor, how long we had to wait, but he couldn’t give any concrete answers. There was nothing much we could do other than waiting for the scan. As I was sitting, I started thinking and talking to myself… I really want to go home…. Back to my real home… I want to leave…You know when you just want to go home and can't take it anymore?

After some while, I went to B.N. again to check on her. She moved to another room, so I began searching and asking hospital staff where they moved her. The system isn’t the most efficient one as one said Room A and the other Room C…. It was a true search for her again…which took some time..
Luckily I found her and there were some colleagues from Qatar Airways along her bed. She was also in pain and she straight away mentioned that she had four fractured ribs. Shit…. I wasn’t sure if a fractured rib is a broken rib…. Is it? I always thought that fractured doesn’t mean broken…. But B.N. convinced me she had 4 BROKEN ribs..

We then started talking about the car and the damage. How much will it cost B.N. asked? I have no idea…I asked one of B.N. her colleagues and showed him a picture which we took at the crash site..
He was shocked seeing the picture, but didn’t think it will cost much.. not more then EUR2000,00. A moment of relief… wow… B.N. great news.. that's nothing.. I mean, we have to pay all of that ofcourse, but I thought worse to be honest. Again they all looked at the pictures and ensured us that we were so lucky that we all survived the crash. B.N. than started talking to me individually.. How will we pay this DaniĆ«l? What will we do? Will D.S also contribute in this? Don’t worry I replied, it will all be fine. She was a bit nervous and wasn’t really satisfied with my answer I could see. She then asked about me leaving Doha? Do you know when you will leave? Have you heard from the company when you will leave? No…haven’t heard the exact the date, but I have to leave Doha as soon as possible due to obligations back home. She then again asked how we will figure this all out..

Let me think… I’ll go and see D.S..I'll be right back. Walking to D.S, I was thinking about what B.N. all said…She was really nervous and her questions were sort of demanding… you know when someone asks you something, but the question is sort of the answer? Exactly a rhetorical question
Still, D.S. was in his bed waiting for his scan..I was getting tired. I sat and lied next to D.S. as I was getting really tired of waiting for 7 hours already. Suddenly I received a phone call. It was a lady from the welfare department of Qatar Airways. They make sure that all cabin crew are well and fit to fly. She started talking to D.S, asking if everything was ok… After some while, they wanted to speak to me and ask if everything was ok. I am, I replied.., a bit tired but everything else is fine with me..She then said: “Daniel…I’m happy that everything is ok with you, if there is anything we can do let us know. Oh… and we also heard from B.N. that we have to postpone your deportation to your home country..”

WHAT!?
