Chapter 6: The hidden Agenda 2.0

It was disbelieve as I couldn’t make sense of the situation right away. I immediately informed welfare that I had to leave as soon as possible. I really wanted to leave, but I also needed to leave due to obligations. They understood my situation and would proceed with the process. I thanked them and ensured them once again about me leaving as soon as possible. I already wanted to leave this country but now in this whole situation, the feeling got even worse.

When putting down the phone, I was thinking about what welfare said.. postponed? And why did B.N. mention this to them? What was her motive behind this when I clearly explained that I had to leave the country? I informed D.S about this but we couldn’t really make sense out of it.. Why would she do this? And did she have the power to just postpone my departure? I don’t know..
After some time I went to B.N again to check on her and confronted her with the news. She was a bit shocked but denied calling welfare. She mentioned that this is a standard procedure and that they maybe think I’m not fit to fly on short notice. Well…It all became even more unclear..but I didn’t really pay attention to it anymore.

As we were in the hospital for over 12 hours now, I mentioned that I would leave, go home and get some rest. B.N and I agreed that we had to contact the Rental Car dealer about the accident. I suggested that I go to the office the next day and explain everything. We needed the police report though so I suggested that before going home, I could stop at the police station. I said bye to D.S. and told him I’d call the next day. Luckily he was feeling a bit better. He could leave soon but also had to go back to the hospital for his final scan results.

Finally Outside, I took a taxi home with a pitstop at the police station. It was already dark and the ride home was confronting. Again, how could this have happened to us? Why..I mean, so many questions with zero answers. Moments later I arrived at the police station in the same outfit of the accident and before evening taking two steps in the police stations, the officer yelled at me. NO SIR! You are not allowed! SIR! No!!! …I calmly replied that I have a question… NO SIR! We cannot help you… you have to dress properly to enter the station. It was because of my shorts. I felt hopeless. Hopeless because after all of this, I couldn’t even enter a police station… I guess cultural differences? I don’t know! I was mad, angry, sad. So many emotions.

After I arrived home, I immediately went to take a shower and get ready for bed. I had to stay positive and remain calm at the same time. I believe this is also one of my strengths, remaining calm and positive. After a long hot shower, I realized that I still had the coughing syrup which I used when I was flying. The syrup helps me fall asleep very easily. I remember taking a spoon, laying on my bed and staring at the ceiling. After some while, I feel the medicine rushing through my veins all through my body..such a nice feeling and seconds later I fell asleep.

I woke up early the next morning and went to the nearby police station. Unfortunately, they couldn’t pull out the report because we had to do it at the nearest police station to the crash site. Well…what now.. I then drove to the rental car dealer and informed them about the crash. At first, I didn’t mention, where it had happened..but slowly I started mentioning all the details. They even asked me if I had a picture.. At first I said no and then I showed them. I was just scared, I don’t know why. The woman was shocked by the damage. She said they would have to cancel the car and that the process of all this would take some time. I then mentioned that I would be leaving the country soon as I was in the process of doing so. She asked when and I replied in the next three days I assume. I wasn’t exactly certain.

I then explained  about the police report and they arranged a driver for me to go and get the report. Which I found very nice. After some driving we arrived at the police station. Only Arabic speakers… we don’t speak English sir. Sh*T!! And they couldn’t care less.. But I was not willing to give up so it turned into a conversation with a lot of google translation and gestures. We even had the lady from the car rental agency call, as she was an Arabic speaker. They started arguing a little and the end result was that the specific officer who made the report was on leave for the next three days and had not finished the report… Are you serious sir? ….

We then agreed to go back to the city.. I informed B.N. about this and she again asked how we will figure all of this out and again asked me when I’d be leaving.. I suddenly got a call from the car rental lady..and she again informed me about the conversation with the police and that it’s not possible to get the car out of the dessert… and Daniël I'm sorry to inform you but you cannot leave until everything is figured out and therefore we might issue a travel ban……….
